Tuesday March 31, 2009

This is not a good start of a week. DOW and TSX both lost a lot of ground.
I sold CEMJQ and got all my investment back on this stock. Now I am on a free roll, i still have 20,000 shares. That’s the only thing that is good about this week so far. The market is so confusing. No one ever knows if it hit the bottom yet. We want some positive signs so the market can jump and the world feels that the worst is over.

The weekend was not very productive. I did not reach my goals. Oh well! There is always another weekend.

The Wall Street news “Tuesday started with news that home prices sank in January and that Chicago-area business conditions deteriorated in March. But consumer confidence data is expected to show a slight improvement in March.
The market is coming off a two-day pullback after rallying on better-than-expected home sales, retail sales and durable goods data. A Treasury plan for banks' toxic assets and calming remarks from the banks' CEOs also helped the Dow Jones industrial average soar 21 percent in fewer than three weeks.”

March 27, 2009 - Friday

It’s Friday again. I am happy that the weekend is around the corner.
I had a pretty good week.

DOW and TSX gained quite a bit of ground this week. It does not look that great this morning. I just hope that AIG and FNM go up next week significantly. I am looking forward to that. As I was thinking loud last week about day trading AIG, it would have been a good idea. It’s down 50% and I could make a few dollars.
I need to keep looking into this.

My friend visited me a couple of days and we had fun. It was pretty pleasant.

OIL prices are around the $ 50 mark. I am hoping that price keeps going up.
We need the price to be around $ 70 per barrel and that will unlock some of the projects.

Our EVP had a webex meeting this week. It was very positive. I am happy to know that we will get bonus for last year. I thought we might not get it this year as the AR + WIP was high. I am looking forward to this on the first week of April.

Stocks rise on fresh economic, corporate data

NEW YORK (AP) -- Wall Street is extending its gains as an upbeat profit report from Best Buy Co. and new unemployment numbers add to a sense that the economy might be finding its footing.

Stocks have wavered in their advance Thursday. But the give-and-take isn't surprising for a market that has surged about 20 percent in 12 days.
The report from Best Buy boosted hopes that shoppers could show more resilience than some analysts had expected. Weekly unemployment claims gave mixed signals about the economy but support a growing notion that the economy might be showing signs of stabilizing.

Study: Lots of red meat increases mortality risk

The largest study of its kind finds that older Americans who eat large amounts of red meat and processed meats face a greater risk of death from heart disease and cancer. The federal study of more than half a million men and women bolsters prior evidence of the health risks of diets laden with red meat like hamburger and processed meats like hot dogs, bacon and cold cuts.

Calling the increased risk modest, lead author Rashmi Sinha of the National Cancer Institute said the findings support the advice of several health groups to limit red and processed meat intake to decrease cancer risk.

The findings appear in Monday's Archives of Internal Medicine.
Over 10 years, eating the equivalent of a quarter-pound hamburger daily gave men in the study a 22 percent higher risk of dying of cancer and a 27 percent higher risk of dying of heart disease. That's compared to those who ate the least red meat, just 5 ounces per week.
Women who ate large amounts of red meat had a 20 percent higher risk of dying of cancer and a 50 percent higher risk of dying of heart disease than women who ate less.
For processed meats, the increased risks for large quantities were slightly lower overall than for red meat. The researchers compared deaths in the people with the highest intakes to deaths in people with the lowest to calculate the increased risk.

People whose diets contained more white meat like chicken and fish had lower risks of death.
The researchers surveyed more than 545,000 people, ages 50 to 71 years old, on their eating habits, then followed them for 10 years. There were more than 70,000 deaths during that time.

March 23, 2009 - Monday

Last week was pretty interesting.

I enjoyed my week . One of my friend visited me few times. We had fun.
The weekend was exciting. I played poker Friday and Saturday night.

It was great as i played good poker. I made
$ 1300.00. I played good but i definitely need to improve. I did not make a all in call on the button where i could make another $500.00 or so. I had TT and the all in guy had 77 and another caller had 99. I figured it was 50/50 and i did not want to gamble. At that point, I was up $ 700 and should have made the call.

The market is getting very exciting. DOW is up and it's rocking this morning.

I sold HIG last week, if i waited a few more days, i could make a few more dollars.

Oh well, i guess take the profit and run.

I bought CEMJQ which is a good buy i think. I am up 50% today. I hope that it will triple up

by the end of this week. I don't know if i should buy and sell AIG, i just have to think about it.

I am happy that i sent my mother $ 500.00. I hope that she is feeling better.

Tuesday March 17, 2009

The weekend had been fun. I played poker this weekend. I played pretty well. I made over $ 1 K. Mike and Ken lost quite a bit. I feel bad for Mike as he was real unlucky in many occasions. He goes in with the best hand or dominating hands and got run over. Glen joined our table late and did pretty well. He acted like a bully, fooled some of the folks, got lucky in some occasions, and fooled some into calling him when he had the best hand.

Monday, Monday, so good to me. It was a good Monday. Just what the doctor ordered.

DOW was on a roll in the morning and lost it's momentum in the afternoon session. I placed an order to sell HIG for $10. I don't know when it will reach that high. I planned to sell HIG today if it reaches $8.50 ( keeping my finger crossed). I think i need to day trade with HIG and make a few bucks.

The weather is real cloudy. It looks sad outside. I hope we get over this winter very soon.

Friday, 13th of March 2009

Today is Friday, always a good day. The weekend is right around the corner.
Friday the 13th is a whole new story. I was never suppositious about the 13.
I would say; I had a good day so far. The proposal is signed which I sent yesterday.

I spoke to a friend and will be looking forward to see my friend next week. Hopefully, things go smooth.

DOW is up again, keeping my fingers crossed that HIG goes to $10. I want to make some profit so bad. I am down 50% on my investments. The market had been pretty cruel. It’s so unpredictable, it’s not even funny. I gotta think about selling my UTS share before 27th of March. TOTAL E&P has an offer on the table. I don’t know if they will acquire UTS.

I am looking forward to tonight and Saturday. I wish you all (if anyone reads this) a wonderful weekend. Life is good.

March 12, 2009

This has been an uneventful day, dull day at work.
I am excited that we got a project.
I prepared a proposal quickly and hope that the client sends it back to me tomorrow signed. We need this project. Time is pretty rough. One of my Ex called me today.
She is giving up on life after an episode with her present company. I tried telling her to hold on and look forward to life.

DOW gained 239 points today, great day for DOW and TSX. I am excited.
I hope HIG goes to $ 10/ share within a week. I am hoping that this upward momentum carries on for a few weeks.

Always looking forward to some spark tomorrow.

Cinderella - Don't know what you got

I can't tell ya baby what went wrong

I can't make you feel what you felt so long ago

I'll let it show

I can't give you back what's been hurt

Heartaches come and go and all that's left are the words

I can't let goIf we take some time to think it over baby

Take some time, let me know

If you really want to go

Don't know what you got till it's gone

Don't know what it is I did so wrong

Now I know what I got

It's just this song

And it ain't easy to get back

Takes so long

I can't feel the things that cause you pain

I can't clear my heart of your love it falls like rain

Ain't the same

I hear you calling far awayTearing through my soul

I just can't take another day

Who's to blame

If we take some time to think it over baby

Take some time let me know

If you really wanna go

Don't know what you got till it's gone

Don't know what it is I did so wrong

Now I know what I got

It's just this song

And it ain't easy to get back

Takes so long

Do you wanna see me beggin' baby

Can't you give me just one more day

Can't you see my heart's been draggin' lately

I've been lookin' for the words to say

Don't know what you got till it's gone

Don't know what it is I did so wrong

Now I know what I got

It's just this song

And it ain't easy to get back

Takes so long

Don't know what you got till it's gone no

Don't know what it is I did so wrong

Now I know what I gotIt's just this song

And it ain't easy to get back

Takes so long

It's no good - Depeche Mode

Gonna take my time
I have all the time in the world
To make you mine
It is written in the stars above
The gods decree
You'll be right here by my side
Right next to me
You can run but you cannot hide

Don't say you want me
Don't say you need me
Don't say you love me
It's understood
Don't say you're happy
Out there without me

I know you can't be
Cos it's no good
I'll be fine
I'll be waiting patiently
Till you see the signs
And come running to my open arms
When will you realize
Do we have to wait till our worlds collide
Open up your eyes
You've got to back the tide

Don't say you want me
Don't say you need me
Don't say you love me
It's understood
Don't say you're happy
Out there without me
I know you can't be
Cos it's no good
Gonna take my time
I have all the time in the world
To make you mine
It is written in the stars above
Don't say you want me
Don't say you need me
Don't say you love me
It's understood
Don't say you're happy
Out there without me
I know you can't be
Cos it's no good

World Economy - March 2009

Global output rose by 3.8% in 2008, down from 5.2% in 2007. Among major economies, growth was led by China (9.8%), Russia (7.4%), and India (7.3%). Worldwide, nations varied widely in their growth results, with Macau (16.6%), Azerbaijan (15.6%), and Angola (15.1%), registering the highest. Growth rates slowed in all the major industrial countries and most developing countries, because of uncertainties in the financial markets and lowered consumer confidence. Externally, the nation-state, as a bedrock economic-political institution, is steadily losing control over international flows of people, goods, funds, and technology. Internally, the central government often finds its control over resources slipping as separatist regional movements - typically based on ethnicity - gain momentum, e.g., in many of the successor states of the former Soviet Union, in the former Yugoslavia, in India, in Iraq, in Indonesia, and in Canada. Externally, the central government is losing decisionmaking powers to international bodies, notably the EU. In Western Europe, governments face the difficult political problem of channeling resources away from welfare programs in order to increase investment and strengthen incentives to seek employment. The addition of 80 million people each year to an already overcrowded globe is exacerbating the problems of pollution, desertification, underemployment, epidemics, and famine. Because of their own internal problems and priorities, the industrialized countries devote insufficient resources to deal effectively with the poorer areas of the world, which, at least from an economic point of view, are becoming further marginalized. The introduction of the euro as the common currency of much of Western Europe in January 1999, while paving the way for an integrated economic powerhouse, poses economic risks because of varying levels of income and cultural and political differences among the participating nations. The terrorist attacks on the US on 11 September 2001 accentuated a growing risk to global prosperity, illustrated, for example, by the reallocation of resources away from investment to anti-terrorist programs. The opening of war in March 2003 between a US-led coalition and Iraq added new uncertainties to global economic prospects. The complex political difficulties and the high economic cost of establishing domestic order in Iraq became major global problems that continued through 2008.
